Pomegranate Award for Music
Biography
Yael Naim, a French-Israeli Sephardi singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, score composer and producer, has become an essential artist on the French and international music scene.
She has been awarded three Victoires de la Musique (2008, 2011 & 2016), a Grand Prix Sacem (2011), and a Globe de Cristal for Best Female Performer of the Year (2011). Yael composes and produces not only for herself—four albums to-date—but also for various other artists.
After being chosen by Steve Jobs for Apple’s first MacBook Air commercial, Yael’s song “New Soul” achieved break-through success, including reaching Number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 (making Yael a “Hot Shot” for the highest scoring debut single and the first Israeli solo artist ever to be in the Top 10), Number 1 on iTunes, as well as remaining Number 1 on the French Singles Chart for 14 weeks.
Yael tirelessly seeks to create her own sound world through a series of increasingly captivating albums, blending folk and organic pop with classical ensembles, such as choirs, brass, wind, or strings.
