OUR STORY
The New York Sephardic Jewish Film Festival (NYSJFF), also known as the Sephardic Film Festival, is a celebration of culture, history, and storytelling. Since its inception in 1990, the NYSJFF has been a beacon of light, shining a cinematic spotlight on the diverse and rich tapestry of Greater Sephardi communities.
Now in its 28th edition, the NYSJFF continues to captivate audiences with its curated global selection of films, ranging from powerful narratives to evocative documentaries. Our viewers experience the trials, triumphs, and traditions of Sephardic Jews. People come to the NYSJFF to see premiere films that they can’t see anywhere else, on topics that are seldom covered, and with a warm and welcoming community.
The NYSJFF also features the ASF Pomegranate Awards. Lovingly sculpted by the Baghdad-born world-renowned artist Oded Halahmy, the Pomegranates honor vibrant Sephardi voices for outstanding achievements.
As the curtains rise and the lights dim, the NYSJFF invites audiences to embark on a cinematic journey that celebrates the past, illuminates the present, and inspires hope for the future.
