Synopsis
Oded Halahmy Alongside his work as a sculptor, painter, poet, and chef, Oded Halahmy has produced at least thirty documentaries and over fifty films in the last sixty years, including: SIGNALS BY VICTORIA HANNA (2005), RONNY SOMECK READS FROM: THE FIRE STAYS IN RED (2005), SOUNDS OF BAGHDAD: A MUSICAL JOURNEY WITH YAIR DALAL (2006), SAMUEL SHIMON READS FROM: AN IRAQI IN PARIS (2006), and AN AFTERNOON WITH ELIYAHU NAWI (2007). Oded Halahmy has produced films about the Parent's Circle-Families Forum, as well as other peace-building initiatives. Halahmy has video-documented the musical legacy of Milo Hamama, and hosted and video-recorded musicians such as Ayelet Rose Gottlieb, Hamid Al-Saadi, and Amir ElSaffar. Additionally, Halahmy has produced cooking videos which accompany his cookbook (which is itself filled with original Iraqi recipes and art, poetry, stories, and photographs). Halahmy has video-archived tombs and synagogues in Iraq, pomegranate and date orchards in Israel, and specialty tailors in Jackson Heights, New York. A camera accompanies him wherever he goes. Halahmy's "Ashes to Art" (2006) exhibit at Pomegranate Gallery included artwork from many Iraqi artists and was featured on ABC News. Oded Halahmy has also been interviewed by NY1 TV and CBS Morning News, along with many other outlets and organizations.
